Fuel for meaningful conversations and connections
Fuelbox

Turning a physical product into a digital one
FuelBox is a small white box, filled to the brim with question cards. The questions are open-ended and act as a conversation starter. They have a number of conversation boxes in different languages and thousands of open, conversation-starting questions and function as meaningful entertainment for private individuals, and as relationship-building tools for companies, organisations, schools and institutions.
Methods
Technology
In this project, the team and I were tasked with converting their physical product to a digital one that aligned with evolving business strategy. Some of the most important requirements for the app was to accurately reflect the ease of use of the physical version both for the user and for the content creator.
Roles and responsibilities
We comprised of a team of multi-disciplinary designers and developers. As lead of the front end development team and primary interface between development and design, we worked closely together to determine the right technologies while providing feedback to design hypotheses and conclusions.
I selected the front-end technologies and established patterns and best practices for the development of the front-end solution and to ensure responsiveness. Additionally, I coached and mentored the junior developers on the team.
Results & Reflections
We delivered a web application connected to a headless CMS that accurately reflected the ease and natural feeling of the physical question cards. Additionally, we delivered features targeted to new customer segments such as organisations, schools, and businesses.
